Moon Magick Grimoire

First Quarter Quick Ritual

A simple 5-minute ritual for action, momentum, and moving past obstacles.

Overview

The First Quarter Moon is often approached in modern witchcraft as a phase of action, decision, momentum, courage, and follow-through. Astronomically, it is the phase in which half of the Moon's illuminated side is visible from Earth and the Moon is about a quarter of the way through its cycle. This quick ritual is designed to support forward motion, choosing a next step, and building momentum through one small committed action.

Best For

  • Taking action
  • Building momentum
  • Clearing hesitation
  • Focus and follow-through
  • Courage

What You Need

  • Yellow or white candle
  • Clear quartz
  • Citrine or Tiger’s Eye
  • Rosemary
  • Cinnamon
  • Small bowl or dish
  • Paper and pen

5-Minute Ritual

  1. 1Take one deep breath, clear your mind, and gently sweep your hands or herbs over the space with intention.
  2. 2Light the candle. Welcome First Quarter energy and focus on one action you are ready to take now.
  3. 3Hold clear quartz and citrine or Tiger’s Eye. Breathe deeply and picture yourself moving through resistance with confidence.
  4. 4Write one clear next step on your paper and say aloud: “Under the First Quarter Moon, I choose action, trust my path, and move forward with courage.”
  5. 5Place the paper beneath the bowl, thank the Moon, and commit to taking one real step today.

Optional Add-Ons

  • Add a pinch of basil or ginger.
  • Anoint the candle with ritual oil.
  • Keep your written intention on your altar.

Closing Reflection

Small steps become real change when you choose to move.

Safety & Practical Notes

Use a fire-safe candle holder and never leave a burning candle unattended. Keep herbs, paper, oils, sleeves, hair, pets, and curtains away from flame. Cinnamon can be irritating or smoky in some contexts; use minimally or skip if needed.
