Moon Magick Grimoire
Moon Water
A practical lunar water ritual shaped by intention and individual practice. What Is Moon Water?
Moon water generally refers to water intentionally placed under or near moonlight as part of a spiritual, ritual, or magical practice. Its magical properties and energetic associations are traditional, spiritual, or practitioner beliefs rather than scientifically established effects; moonlight is not claimed to physically give water supernatural properties.
How to Make Moon Water
- Choose a clean glass jar or bottle.
- Fill it with appropriate clean water.
- Set an intention for the water.
- Place the sealed container where it can be exposed to or symbolically associated with the Moon.
- Leave it for the desired period, commonly overnight.
- Retrieve it and incorporate it into your chosen practice.
Direct visible moonlight is not required for a practitioner to consider the practice meaningful.

Moon Water may be made during any lunar phase, with intentions chosen for that phase. Do not consume it unless normal potable-water and food-safety requirements have been met.
Optional Enhancements
- Herbs, flowers, crystals, and symbolic objects are optional.
- Not every crystal is safe for water immersion. Some minerals may dissolve, leach substances, react with water, or be damaged.
- Unknown crystals should not be placed directly into drinking water; they may be placed outside or around the sealed container instead.
- Essential oils should not be added to drinking water.
- Fresh or dried botanicals change storage and contamination considerations.
Containers
- Clean glass containers are a practical reusable choice.
- Plastic or metal does not inherently prevent Moon Water from ‘working.’ Material preferences may be spiritual rather than practical requirements.
Storage & Safety
- Storage depends on the original water source, container cleanliness, whether the container was sealed, any added herbs, flowers, oils, crystals, or other materials, storage temperature, and intended use.
- For water intended for consumption, normal potable-water and food-safety standards always take priority over ritual practice.
- Water with questionable additives, visible growth, cloudiness, unexpected odor, or contamination should not be consumed.
- For ritual-only water, use reasonable cleanliness and storage practices.
