People-Pleasing 3

When keeping the peace costs your peace.

People-pleasing is a pattern of prioritizing other people's comfort, approval, expectations, or emotional reactions over your own needs, truth, or limits. This reflection focuses on the internal experience of people-pleasing: how it feels in the body, whose approval feels most powerful, and what begins to change when a person gives themselves permission to prioritize their own needs.

Pay attention to what happens in your body when you want to say no but feel pulled to say yes.

My needs are valid. I can be kind and still choose myself.
  1. 1

In what situations do I find myself saying “yes” when I really want to say “no”?

  2. 2

What am I afraid might happen if I disappoint someone?

  3. 3

How does people pleasing show up in my thoughts, behaviors, or physical feelings?

  4. 4

Whose approval have I been seeking, and why does it feel so important to me?

  5. 5

What would change in my life if I gave myself permission to prioritize my own needs?

The part of you that people pleases often learned it as a way to feel safe, accepted, or loved. Instead of judging this part, thank it for trying to protect you.
