Shadow Work Grimoire
Overthinking
Daily Journal Prompts for Clarity & CalmOverview
Overthinking can feel like problem-solving while keeping the mind circling the same question without reaching a useful next step. It may involve replaying conversations, rehearsing every outcome, searching for certainty, or delaying a choice until all risk disappears. This worksheet helps you notice the loop, identify what it is trying to prevent, and return attention to the part you can act on now.
Intention
I release the need to have all the answers. I trust myself, the process, and the present moment.
Daily Affirmation
I release the need to have all the answers. I trust myself, the process, and the present moment.
Guided Journal Prompts
- When do I most often find myself overthinking, and what am I usually afraid might happen?
- What thoughts or worries loop in my mind most frequently? What do they reveal about me?
- How does overthinking affect my body, emotions, and ability to enjoy the present?
- What am I trying to control or prevent by overthinking?
- What would it feel like to trust myself a little more and think a little less?
Reflection of the Day
What thought did I give too much power to today, and what would I like to choose instead?
Practical Integration
Write the looping thought once, then ask whether it needs information, a decision, an action, or acceptance that certainty is unavailable. Set one next step or a time to revisit it, and gently redirect your attention when the same loop restarts.
Gentle Caution
You do not have to think your way out of every uncomfortable feeling. If the loop becomes overwhelming or interferes with daily life, step away from the exercise and seek appropriate support.
